Volcano Reverse is the twentieth and hardest stage in Swordplay Showdown, following Castle Reverse. If you complete this stage, you get a stamp saying that you have completed all the stages in Showdown. You will also get a stamp if you go through the whole stage, from start to finish, without losing a single heart. You also get a congratulatory message when you beat this stage for the first time. There are 49 Gold Armored Miis, 1 Red Armored Mii, 6 Purple Armored Thin Miis, 13 Black Armored Miis, and the Boss Mii Matt.

Miis[]

Gold Armor[]

*JessiePierre, Patrick, Jake, Greg, Eddy, Abe, Oscar, Rainer, Luca, Tatsuaki, Saburo, and Midori are way more aggressive and defensive than the rest of the gold-armored Miis.

**Emily, Rachel, Hayley, Sandra, Víctor, Michael, Holly, Silke, Jackie, Keiko, Sakura, and Kentaro do not defend themselves whenever the player makes their encounter. They share Miguel's moveset.

***Eva, Siobhán, Ashley, Lucía, Fumiko, Megan, Stéphanie, Daisuke, Susana, Steve, Giovanna, and Helen attack twice in a row. They curve their swords (slower than aggressive Miis) to find a path to attack. However, they do not defend themselves after failing to attack.

The rest of the Gold Armored Miis not marked with any asterisks twirl their swords often.

Red Armor[]

Purple Armor Thin[]

Black Armor[]

*Rin and Eduardo aren’t as aggressive compared to the rest of the black armored Miis. Instead, they mostly defend themselves, sharing Purple Armor moveset without twirling their swords often.

**Mike and Chris attack fast, but don’t immediately defend themselves when blocked.

Trivia[]

  • In this stage, the sword fighters' swords, which are supposed to be red, end up appearing light purple because of the light in the volcano. The same is with Volcano.
  • This stage is no different from the normal version, due to it being a literal circle. You just change directions on where you are going (Right on this one, left on the other).
  • This stage has more Black Armored Miis than any other stage, having 13 (not including Matt, who is the Boss).
  • While the other Black Armored Miis have thin legs and thin knee pads, Mike, Chris, and George are seen wearing the same armor with thick legs and thick knee pads like Cole, Barbara, Fritz, Gabriele and Matt have. However, they are smaller than Matt.
  • Being that this is the final and hardest stage, the Miis encountered in it, some more than particular, are a lot more aggressive and intelligent than usual and thus harder to beat. Many Miis will accurately strike the very moment they get close to the player or block a player's swing, and are often very successful in hitting the player if they aren't careful enough.
  • Haru is the only Red Armored Mii in this stage, an unusual trait for this stage as almost every other stage has more than one Mii for each armor type that is present.
  • Tyrone and Gwen are the only two Aggressive Black Armored Miis that wear the Lanky variant.
  • Abby, Ai, James, Martin, Mia, Miyu, Nick, Ryan, Shinnosuke, Shouta, and Ursula are the only non-boss Miis that do not appear in this stage due to their last appearances in stages 18 or 19.
  • All the other non-boss Miis, except for the 11 listed above, obviously make their last appearances in this stage.
  • This is the last stage that does not feature green armored Miis, as well as the last stage with 70 enemies.
  • This is the first and only stage to introduced a tall bulky black armor.
  • This is one of the three stages to have small Black Armors, the others being Castle Reverse and Cliffs Reverse.
  • This is one of two stages where the Miis with Thin Purple Armor don't attack quickly or twirl their swords. The other stage is Lighthouse Reverse.
  • Hiroshi and Kathrin seem to have thinner legs than the other Small Black Armored enemies in this stage.
  • Nelly is the only Black Armored Mii that comes with a horde of Miis with her.
  • This is the only stage where non-boss Black Armored Miis use Bulky Black Armor.
  • The Purple Armored Thin Miis are not as aggressive as the ones in Stages 17 and 18. They are more defensive and share a similar move set as Purple Armored and Red Armored Miis.
  • Comparing Chris and Mike, who are the only Black Armor Miis who do not defend themselves immediately when they fail to hit you, Mike's movesets are more unpredictable. He tends to move his sword around and will strike you at any moment whereas for Chris, he always blocks and will immediately try to hit you if you fail to hit him.
  • This is the only stage that has a clear organization of all 4 Gold Armor attacking behavior (aggressive, no defense, double attack, twirl; order does not matter). The only oddity is Oscar during a pattern, and of all 49 Gold armored Miis, there are 13 aggressive Miis, 12 no defense Miis, 12 double attacking Miis, and 12 twirling Miis.
  • Unlike Fritz, Yoko, and certain aggressive gold armor Miis, the boss of this stage, Matt, attacks slightly twice as fast as them. When he lands a hit, he either attacks twice in a row (similar to Alisha’s moveset) or he immediately defends after that. He does not attack 3 times in a row and does not lift his sword when a player is not targeting him, while the others listed above lift their swords and curve in an attempt to find an open spot and attacks 3 times in a row.

Tips on How to Win[]

  • Defend on the purple armor Miis, and Haru, the only red armor Mii. They will defend and you can hit the aggressive gold armors and the double striking gold armors as well as the aggressive black armors by side-killing them.
  • Rin and Eduardo are defensive and share a similar moveset to the purple armor Miis and Haru. You can defend them and side-kill them, and maybe make them your last enemies. If you kill either one of them last, you would probably beat the stage untouched!

Tips on How to Get 70 Combo[]

  • While using block hitting method (swinging and then blocking, hitting opponents past their defenses), do not use it mindlessly, as there is a high chance you will make a mistake when using that method. Only use it when there are aggressive Miis.
  • When you reach Rin or Eduardo, attack Matt on the side without accidentally hitting the targeted Mii's sword. If you are out of reach, try to be patient or hit them once to get in a better range.
  • When dealing with aggressive Black armored Miis, you can quickly shake your Wii Remote 3 times if they lift their sword to prepare an attack. However, it is quite risky and unpredictable, so try not to rely on that method quite often.
  • Be careful on double hitting and twirling gold armored Miis. Just because they are open for an attack does not mean that you can swing it. They can quickly defend themselves, so be patient.
